Thunder are the Champions
One Game, one trophy, one champion, one last pregame speech, one last chance to make every second count. The table is set, the Thunder and the Hawks. Sure the Hawks had won the previous four games, but this is different, one last game to show who is really the best.
The Hawks have been the thorn in the Thunders side, winning two tournament games and the last regular season game. All that doesn’t matter now. It’s who wants it the most.
A focused Thunder team took to the ice to prove who was the better team. The game was tight early on and then the Thunder broke the ice, first one and then a two goal lead. The Hawks fought back and eventually tied the game. The Thunder knew it was their game to win and eventually fought through to get the go ahead goal. It looked as if the rivalry was finally over. The pesky Hawks tied it again.
The heads on the Thunder bench did not go down, but instead a voice that said, "we’ll get the next one". Another line jumped on to the ice and as the lines had done before them the Thunder went in pursuit of the puck. For the final time the Thunder pounded it into the mesh. Too early to celebrate and close enough to touch, the Thunder held their composure and "brought it home". Now we truly know who is the better team.
This was the game where every player played the game of their lives. Not that any player didn’t before.This was just different.This was the definition of a team effort. It was a proud moment to watch and acknowledge that hours of practice, sweat and determination all came together for 17 players - all at the same time and for the same reason. The players that are the Thunder. The Champion Thunder!
Now pass the Roast Hawk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
